Welcome to the definitive site on Birmingham Balti with some additional information on the Balti Triangle (which is an area of Birmingham in Sparkhill, Balsall Heath and Moseley bounded by sections of the Moseley Road (A435) and the Stratford Road (A435).

You are welcome to post your own reviews and star ratings but please abide by our terms and conditions.  Star ratings range from 1-5 stars and each restaurant gets an overall rating based on your votes!

Furthermore there are also some shopping tips and information on the wider history of the Balti Triangle should you decide to enjoy the area’s eclectic shopping experience.

This site continues the presence of the Asian Balti Restaurant Association (ABRA) formed almost 15 years ago which is a collection of restaurants whose aim has been to promote the area, attract in more visitors, improve the local environment and lobby for increased business support and training. The site has reviews on many of the restaurants and information on the history of Birmingham’s most famous culinary dish.

The idea behind the site belongs to Andy Munro,as a previously unpaid advisor to ABRA, and now to the newly formed Birmingham Balti Association,Andy  has worked closely with the restaurants to raise both their profile and that of this unique area.
This includes a bid to secure TSG status from the EU for the authentic 'Birmingham Balti'..a status already achieved by such famous recipes and names such as the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie and Stilton.

Born and bred in the Balti Triangle area, Andy has been a passionate advocate for the Birmingham Balti and originally authored a number of commercial guides for the area – the Essential Street Balti Guide. Subsequently he edited a successful Tourism guide published by Marketing Birmingham and the recent Miniguide to the Balti Triangle.

Maybe curry was in Andy's genes because his 101 year old mother was a nanny in the 1920s for the original owners of Veerswamys, the first real ‘Indian’ restaurant in the UK.
